About Cefrishot-TZ Injection
CEFRISHOT-TZ is an injectable antibiotic that combines ceftriaxone 1000 mg, a third-generation cephalosporin, with tazobactam 125 mg, which protects ceftriaxone from bacterial enzymes. It is supplied as a 1.125 g vial and used to treat serious bacterial infections, including meningitis, blood infections, and infections of the chest, abdomen, urinary tract, bones and joints.
It is given by a doctor or nurse as an injection into a muscle or vein, usually once a day. The most common side effects are diarrhoea and rash. Tell your doctor straight away if you have ever had an allergic reaction to penicillin or any other antibiotic.
Therapy category: Antibacterial medicine.

- Pelvic inflammatory disease
Benefits of Cefrishot-TZ Injection
Meningitis and septicaemia
Ceftriaxone reaches the brain and spinal fluid well, so it is widely used for bacterial meningitis and serious blood infections. Prompt treatment in hospital is essential to clear the infection and prevent complications.
Chest and abdominal infections
It is active against many bacteria that cause pneumonia and infections inside the abdomen. Tazobactam blocks the enzymes some bacteria use to resist ceftriaxone, helping it work against a wider range of bacteria.
Urinary, bone and joint infections
It treats complicated urinary tract and kidney infections, as well as infections of bones and joints, which may need several days or weeks of treatment as decided by your doctor.
Pelvic inflammatory disease
Infection of the womb, fallopian tubes or ovaries can cause pain and affect fertility if untreated. Ceftriaxone is commonly used, often together with other antibiotics, to treat it.
Side effects of Cefrishot-TZ Injection
Most side effects are mild and settle as your body adjusts. Tell your doctor if they continue or worry you.
- Diarrhoea or loose stools
- Rash or itching
- Pain, swelling or hardness at the injection site
- Nausea or vomiting
- Changes in blood counts or liver test results
How to take Cefrishot-TZ Injection
This medicine is given only by a doctor or nurse, as an injection into a muscle or vein, or as a slow drip into a vein. Your doctor will decide the dose and how long treatment lasts. It must not be mixed with calcium-containing fluids such as Ringer's solution.
How Cefrishot-TZ Injection works
Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin antibiotic that stops bacteria from building their cell walls, so they burst and die. Some bacteria make enzymes called beta-lactamases that can break down antibiotics like ceftriaxone. Tazobactam blocks these enzymes, helping ceftriaxone keep working.
