About Krujokast-B Tablet

KRUJOKAST-B tablets combine bilastine 20 mg, a non-drowsy antihistamine, with montelukast 10 mg, a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It is used to relieve allergic rhinitis and hay fever (sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy and watery eyes) and hives, and to help control asthma, particularly when allergies and asthma occur together.

Take one tablet once a day on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food or fruit juice, exactly as your doctor prescribes. It is for adults and adolescents aged 15 and over. Montelukast can occasionally cause mood or behaviour changes, so tell your doctor straight away if you notice any.

Therapy category: Allergy and asthma medicine.

Uses of Krujokast-B Tablet

  • Asthma
  • Seasonal and perennial allergic rhinoconjunctivitis
  • Hay fever
  • Respiratory and nasal allergies
  • Urticaria

Benefits of Krujokast-B Tablet

Allergic rhinitis and hay fever

During an allergic reaction the body releases histamine and leukotrienes, which cause sneezing, a runny or blocked nose and itchy, watery eyes. Bilastine blocks histamine to relieve sneezing, itching and a runny nose, while montelukast blocks leukotrienes, which can help with nasal congestion, especially in people who also have asthma.

Asthma

Leukotrienes narrow and inflame the airways. Montelukast blocks them, helping to prevent asthma symptoms, including those triggered by exercise or allergies. It is a preventer and does not relieve a sudden attack.

Urticaria (hives)

Bilastine reduces the itching and raised red wheals of hives by blocking histamine, the main chemical behind them.

Side effects of Krujokast-B Tablet

Most side effects are mild and settle as your body adjusts. Tell your doctor if they continue or worry you.

  • Headache
  • Drowsiness, dizziness or tiredness
  • Abdominal pain, diarrhoea or nausea
  • Upper respiratory infection or fever
  • Rash
  • Rarely, mood changes, disturbed sleep or vivid dreams

How to take Krujokast-B Tablet

Take one tablet once a day, or as your doctor advises, at the same time each day. Take it on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating or drinking fruit juice, as food reduces how much bilastine is absorbed. Swallow it whole with water.

How Krujokast-B Tablet works

During an allergic reaction, the body releases chemicals including histamine and leukotrienes. Bilastine is a long-acting antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors, relieving sneezing, itching and hives without usually causing drowsiness. Montelukast blocks leukotriene receptors in the airways and nose, reducing swelling, mucus and narrowing of the airways.
