About Ursoram 300 Tablet
URSORAM 300 tablets contain 300 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid, a bile acid. It is used to dissolve cholesterol gallstones and to treat certain long-term liver conditions, including primary biliary cholangitis. It works by improving the flow of bile and lowering the cholesterol in it, which helps gallstones dissolve and protects liver cells.
Take URSORAM after a meal with water or milk, exactly as your doctor prescribes. Treatment usually lasts several months or longer, so keep taking it even if you feel better. The most common side effect is diarrhoea or loose stools. Tell your doctor about any other medicines you take, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Therapy category: Hepatobiliary care.
Uses of Ursoram 300 Tablet
- Dissolving cholesterol gallstones in people whose gallbladder is still working
- Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC)
- Liver disease associated with cystic fibrosis
Benefits of Ursoram 300 Tablet
Cholesterol gallstones
Ursodeoxycholic acid lowers the amount of cholesterol in bile, which allows small cholesterol stones in a working gallbladder to dissolve slowly. This can take several months, so take it regularly for as long as your doctor advises. Your doctor may arrange scans to check progress.
Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC)
In PBC, the small bile ducts inside the liver are gradually damaged and bile builds up. Ursodeoxycholic acid improves bile flow and protects liver cells from harmful bile acids, which can slow the disease and improve liver test results. It is usually taken long term.
Liver disease associated with cystic fibrosis
In cystic fibrosis, thick bile can block the small bile ducts and damage the liver. Ursodeoxycholic acid helps bile flow more easily and protects liver cells. In the UK it is approved for this use in children aged 6 to 18.

How Ursoram 300 Tablet works
URSORAM contains ursodeoxycholic acid, a bile acid that occurs naturally in small amounts in the body. It reduces the cholesterol the liver releases into bile, which helps cholesterol gallstones dissolve. It also replaces more harmful bile acids, improves bile flow and protects liver cells from damage.
