About Flavolead Tablet
FLAVOLEAD tablets contain flavoxate hydrochloride 200 mg, a urinary antispasmodic. It relaxes the muscles of the bladder and urinary tract to relieve painful urination, urgency, frequent urination, night-time urination and leakage, including symptoms linked to cystitis, prostatitis and urethritis.
Take it after meals, usually three times a day, exactly as your doctor prescribes. The most common side effect is nausea; it can also cause drowsiness or blurred vision. It is not recommended for children under 12, and it must not be used by people with glaucoma or difficulty passing urine.
Therapy category: Urinary tract medicine.
Uses of Flavolead Tablet
- Overactive bladder
- Painful urination (dysuria), urgency and frequency
- Suprapubic pain, nocturia and incontinence
- Urinary symptoms in cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis and urethrotrigonitis
Benefits of Flavolead Tablet
Overactive bladder
In an overactive bladder, the bladder muscle squeezes suddenly and often, causing urgent and frequent trips to the toilet. Flavoxate relaxes this muscle, so the bladder can hold more urine and the urge becomes easier to control.
Painful urination, urgency and frequency
Irritation of the bladder or urethra can cause burning, pain and a constant urge to pass urine. By easing spasm in the urinary tract, flavoxate relieves these symptoms while the underlying cause is treated.
Night-time urination, lower abdominal pain and leakage
Relaxing the bladder muscle can reduce how often you wake at night to pass urine, ease discomfort above the pubic bone, and lessen leakage caused by bladder spasm.
Symptoms of urinary infections and inflammation
In cystitis, prostatitis and urethritis, flavoxate eases the painful spasm and urgency. It does not treat infection itself, so your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic alongside it.

How Flavolead Tablet works
Flavoxate is a urinary antispasmodic. It acts directly on the smooth muscle of the bladder and urinary tract, relaxing it and reducing involuntary contractions. This increases the amount of urine the bladder can hold and eases pain, urgency and frequency.
