About Optibreathe-N Tablet
OPTIBREATHE-N tablets combine acebrophylline 100 mg, which relaxes the airways and helps clear mucus, with acetylcysteine 600 mg, which thins thick phlegm so it is easier to cough up. It is used in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis, to ease breathlessness, chest tightness and cough with sticky mucus.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribes, usually after food. Common side effects include nausea, stomach upset and headache. It does not relieve a sudden asthma attack, so keep your reliever inhaler with you, and tell your doctor if you have heart, liver, kidney or thyroid problems or a stomach ulcer.
Therapy category: Respiratory medicine.
Uses of Optibreathe-N Tablet
- Asthma
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Benefits of Optibreathe-N Tablet
Asthma
In asthma the airways tighten and fill with sticky mucus. Acebrophylline relaxes the airway muscles and improves mucus clearance, while acetylcysteine thins the mucus, helping you breathe and cough more easily. It is used alongside your inhalers, not instead of them.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
In COPD and chronic bronchitis, narrowed airways and thick phlegm cause breathlessness and a persistent cough. By opening the airways and loosening phlegm, this combination can make daily activities easier and coughing more productive.

How to take Optibreathe-N Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and for the length of time your doctor advises, preferably after food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not chew or crush it. Drink plenty of fluids during the day to help loosen mucus.
How Optibreathe-N Tablet works
Acebrophylline combines ambroxol, which helps the lungs produce thinner mucus and clear it more easily, with a theophylline-like compound that relaxes the muscles of the airways. Acetylcysteine breaks the chemical bonds that make mucus thick and sticky, so phlegm becomes thinner and easier to cough up.
